Once again the MOMAR After-Party did not disappoint but how could it when we had the Hairfarmers and DJ Q-PID playing wicked tunes, a bar stocked with copious amounts of Lighthouse beer, and 300 adventure racers and volunteers ready to celebrate their battle against the MOMAR?!?

The after-party, proudly sponsored by Lighthouse Brewing Co. (thanks Paul!), started with a gourmet meal prepared by Greg Van Heirden of G-Van Catering (special mention goes to Greg’s killer Berry Crumble dessert — ordered just for you, Shane!). We then went into the awards ceremony where we gave out a big table of prizes from all our amazing sponsors. I know that this can really drag out the ceremonies but hopefully it was worth the wait as I’m guessing that over half the participants walked away with some really cool schwag!

Norona was once again the dancing machine, but it was Ina’s 4 year old kid Dash who was first on the dance floor. The best song of the night was the Hairfarmer’s rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and the classic tunes of Steve Miller. We had two visits from the RCMP that night but I think they actually wished that they weren’t on duty. Thanks to Keely Stott and her soccer team for running the bar and for busting the guys who were making blue Gatorade shots just before the cops came… The MOMAR party could have been over much earlier…

My only gripe is that Squamish has no good late night eateries! Oh, what I would have done for a smokie at 2am. Instead we had to settle for chili at Tim Hortons. Lame.

I have posted some photos from the party in my Pixagogo gallery. Check it out here: http://www.pixagogo.com/5750874157. If you have some good photos from the party, please send them over and I’ll post them up.

Thanks again to everyone who raced their hearts out but still had the energy to stay late at the after-party!
