Thanks to the great guys at the BC Bike Race, we had an entry to give away for their race in 2009.  If you haven’t heard of this event, it is a seven day mountain bike stage race that starts in Shawnigan Lake and ends in Whistler.  It has been dubbed the ultimate singletrack experience and it lives up to its name in a big way with each stage featuring amazing amounts of XC riding.

The entry was auctioned off at the MOMAR Cumberland awards banquet with 100% of the proceeds going to our official charity, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC.  The entry is worth $4500+gst and with many fanatical mountain bikers in the room the bidding war began.  Active bidders included Brian McCurdy, Harold Williams, Wil Lim, and few others, but it was Curtis Labounty–along with partner Marshall House–who prevailed with a final bid price of $4100!

Thanks to everyone for being part of the live auction especially BC Bike Race for the donation!!!

Schick Xtreme3 reps, Francis and Greg, were on hand at the Cumberland awards ceremony to present the prize to Ryan and Nicole.

Yesterday, I had the great pleasure of making a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC on behalf of the MOMAR. Through our Wishing Bell program, online donations, the Mega 50/50 Draw, and a top-up from the MOMAR, we were able to raise $2000.00 for our official charity.

Executive Director, Ross Hetherington, accepts the cheque from the MOMAR.

Make-A-Wish’s mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses and to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Since 1983, they have granted over 1000 wishes!

Our fundraising goal for 2008 is to raise $5000. We will have lots of fundraising initiatives at each MOMAR and we look forward to your support in helping us reach our goal.
