The schedule for the 2009 Schick Xtreme3 Mind Over Mountain Adventure Racing Series has been released. This year the series will start in Squamish on May 23rd and end on September 26th in Cumberland.
Why only two races you ask? Well, due to a very busy year ahead as the Project Manager for the City of Surrey’s 2010 Celebration Site, I will be way too challenged to put on three MOMAR events. We may go back up to three next year but we’ll see how things go.
One exciting change is that we are adding a short course option to both races! Billed as the “Sport Course” this category will feature a 30km course distance. The regular course will now be called the “Enduro Course” and will be approxmately 50km in distance. Space will be limited to 200 racers in the Enduro and 100 in the Sport so we could see some early sellouts in registration.
The website has now been updated (except for the left header links) and registration will open on January 1st, 2009, at 10am. Mark the date on your calendar!

This is a message to all you fence sitters who haven’t decided if they are doing the MOMAR in Squamish. Today is the last day to sign up before registration fees take a jump. As of today, we have over 200 racers signed up and that only leaves 25 more spots before we are SOLD OUT! Please don’t delay and get your entry in today.
Registration for the 9th Annual Schick Xtreme3 Mind Over Mountain Adventure Racing Series opens today for the 2008 season. We have three races in this year’s series with stops in Squamish on May 10th, Cowichan Valley on July 26th, and Cumberland on September 27.
Squamish Course Director, Jen Segger-Gigg, promises a new race route on some of Squamish’s best terrain. She is looking for an even bigger rappell site and more fast and flowy single-track. We may even be adding a short course option for this event; however, logistics are still being planned and we’ll post news about this in the new year.
The MOMAR in the Cowichan Valley will feature a BRAND NEW course designed by Jason Sandquist. We are really excited for this event in particular because it will be held in an area unknown to many but filled with an amazing trail network. A short course option will be available for this race (teams of two only)
The series will once again wrap up in Cumberland where the trails are nothing but incredible and the afterparty never misses. The local word is that there are some new trails being developed which may change the look and feel of this race considerably.
So, get your team together and sign up today. Early bird rates run from now until January 15th, 2007.
The list of registered racers for the MOMAR in Cumberland is now posted. If you are racing, please go to the MOMAR_003 page to download the list and verify all your information is correct. The Detailed Racer Information Package is also available.
I just arrived back from Cumberland, BC, where I spent three days scouting the trails for the final MOMAR of the season. Some recent logging has changed the trail network but I mapped it all out and have prepared another challenging course for what is always the most popular race of the series. Joining me on the trekking days were Liz and Peter who will be coordinating that stage of the race. I’m working on adding a few twists to the course which will play into team strategy – mostly for those in the mid to back of the pack…
We are just under a month until the the Cumberland MOMAR. Some lucky racer is going to win a Berg Bike custom built frame ($1500 value) and someone is going to win the $5000 trip to Costa Rica. Who is it going to be?
Be sure to sign up by Saturday, September 9th, before late fees go up. Click here for more info on the race and to register.

Comox Valley residents, Peter and Liz,
will be heading up the trekking stage of the MOMAR Cumberland on Sept 29th.

Registration for the 4th Dimension 5-10h and 24h Adventure Race is now open! This will be the first 24h Adventure Race in Washington State in over two years, and the untapped Olympic Peninsula is certainly worthy of a race of such proportions. Glen Rogers from team DART-nuun designed two great courses, a 24h (Sept 15/16) and 5-10h (Sept 15th).
So get your teams ready for an exciting new place and a race that will put your skills to the test. More information on the 24h race can be found on our website.

won the race and took home a killer prize package from Helly Hansen.
Registration has opened for the 4th edition of Navigate the Streets. The race takes place in Vancouver on Saturday, October 13th. Teams of three will race to find 10 checkpoint scattered throughout the downtown core. Helly Hansen is the presenting sponsor and has put up a $2000 Grand Prize shopping spree at their soon to be opened new downtown location. Visit the website to register today!
