ENDURO COURSE
Distance: 45-50km
Estimated Completion Time: 4-8 hours
Categories: Solo, Teams of 2, & Teams
of 4; (any gender combination)
Disciplines: This course will feature tons of great XC mountain biking, challenging navigation, incredible viewpoint checkpoints, bushwacking, trail running, and rappelling! Racers can expect multiple stages of running and riding.
SPORT COURSE
Distance: ~30km
Estimated Completion Time: 3-6 hours
Categories: Teams of 2 only (any gender combination)
Disciplines: This course will feature tons of great XC mountain biking, basic navigation, incredible viewpoint checkpoints, bushwacking, and trail running. Racers can expect multiple stages of running and riding.
NOTE: There will NOT be a rappel for the Sport Course.
There are cut-off points along the course that you must get to in order to continue on the full course. The cutoff points are very achievable for 90% of the teams. The map will show you where and when these cutoff points are located.

| Rappelling Skills |
RAPPELLING INFORMATION:
The rappel is rumoured to be approximately 100 feet. There will be five rappel lines.
NEW RULE: If you feel you cannot do the rappel, you will bypass that Checkpoint. Please note that overall rankings will be based on the number of Checkpoints a team receives, then by fastest time.
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED!
All racers need to have the proper skills BEFORE coming to the race. There will be NO skill test given on the Friday night. Every racer much come to the race with the proper certification. To be considered certified, racers must meet one of the following criteria:
1) You get signed off by an ACMG guide
2) You did the MOMAR Squamish in '07, '08 or '09
3) You show a certificate from another adventure race that had a comparable rappel stage
4) You took a clinic by the Squamish Rock Guide or another climbing company
5) You get signed off by your local climbing gym

ALL racers must bring this completed form with them to Friday Night Registration. If you do bring this form, you will be forbidden from doing the rappel and will not get that checkpoint.
NEW MANDATORY GEAR:
We are also requiring every racer to come with their own rappelling equipment. The following items are now added to the gear list:
- Certified rock climbing harness (e.g. Metolius Safe-Tech)
- 2 locking carabiners
- 1 belay/rappel device (e.g. Black Diamond ATC or ATC XP) No figure 8’s!
- 1 shoulder length climbing sling
- Long fingered gloves (bike gloves ok)
- Helmet (bike helmet ok)
Skill Requirements Checklist: Racer must demonstrate how to……
1. Understands the basic safety concerns of rappelling (loose clothing, loose hair, rappelling too quickly).
2. Can put on a standard sit harness and buckle it properly according to manufactures instructions.
3. Can identify the safety points of the harness, including the isolated tie in point and the belay/rappel loop.
4. Can attach the rappel device (ATC “tube style”) to the correct loop on the harness using a locking carabineer.
5. Can properly thread the climbing rope through the rappel device for both a single stranded rappel AND a double stranded rappel.
6. Can demonstrate proper hand position for breaking during the rappel.
7. Can properly go over a lip to begin rappel.
8. Can demonstrate proper body position on a low angle, vertical and free hanging rappel.
9. Can rappel in a smooth and controlled manner.

ALICE LAKE PROVICIAL PARK
This park offers vehicle accessible campsites. Most of these sites can accommodate a large camper with trailer; there are a few medium sized sites; and a couple of small sites. There are 11 double sites. The campsite is set in forest cover and the sites are quite shaded. Sites are not on the lakeshore but are set back in the forest. Reservations open on April 1st. | Race Rules & Regulations |
Ranking:
- Teams will be ranked according to the number of Checkpoints they collect.
- In the event of a tie, the finishing time (less penalties) will be used to further rank teams.
Time Penalties:
- 15 minutes penalty if you are caught out of visual range of you teammates.
- 15 minutes for receiving outside support from any non-racer.
- 15 minutes for the first traffic violation. Disqualification for the second.
- 15 minutes for littering.
- 15 minutes for using any form of electronic communication device between teammates (ie FRS radios)
- 15 minute for using any form of listening device (ie iPod, walkman, etc). Disqualification for the second.
- 5 minutes for modifying your MOMAR bib number. You must wear it on the front and it cannot be folded or cut in any way.
- 5 minutes for each item that you do not have that is on the mandatory gear list.
You will be disqualified for the following reasons:
- You deviate severely from the race course (Discretion of the race director)
- If one of your teammates does not cross the finish line. In adventure racing, all members of a team must finish the course together. Thus, you are only as fast as your slowest racer. If a teammate decides they cannot go on, the remaining members may race unranked.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct to fellow racers, volunteers, or spectators.
Support Personnel: Absolutely no outside support personnel will be allowed along the race course except at the start and finish lines. 15 minute time penalties will be handed out to teams in violation. Team must be fully self-sufficient and plan provisions accordingly.
In the event of a dispute, please let the Race Officials know and we will do our best to resolve the issue fairly. |
