Volunteer at the 2025 Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race

Over the past two decades, MOMAR has attracted incredible volunteers who dedicate their weekends to supporting this exciting event. This year's race will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the Village of Cumberland.

Volunteering at MOMAR is a rewarding experience that offers the chance to gain valuable skills, make new connections, and witness the thrill of adventure racing up close. We’d love for you to join us—bring a friend along too!

All volunteers will receive an event shirt and access to our post-race festivities. To enjoy the post-race party, one of your shifts must be on Saturday or a full shift on Friday. We also welcome volunteers for pre-event help, so feel free to sign up for more than one shift!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Fuel the Spirit of Adventure

Course Flagging

Travel the course beforehand and setup checkpoints, markers, and course directions.

Setup ‣ Tear Down and Supply Management

Have an eye for details? Assist with the setup & teardown of the start/finish line to make it look spectacular and help keep all the supplies organized.

first aid

The medical team is a very important part of adventure racing. They are there for any emergency that may arise. Medical teams are strategically positioned in various locations throughout the course in order to have the best accessibility for a quick response to any area on the course for any emergency. If you have any first aid, CPR, or wilderness first aid, and are interested in helping out, this could be the position for you. Qualified medics are also needed at transition checkpoints to help out racers if needed.

course marshals

Course Marshals are located at various points along the course. Duties for this position include setting up the checkpoint, recording the teams as they pass through, keeping an eye out for any racers in trouble and if necessary, reporting anything needed to the safety team or race central. All checkpoints have at least 2 people.

friday night registration

The registration volunteers are tasked with checking in registered participants, collecting waivers, and handing out race packages at Cumberland Village Park.

photographers

Have an eye for catching the right moment? We are looking for talented photographers to help us both on and off the course! On course, catch all the racers in action. At the finish line, catch the memorable moments as the racers cross the finish line and celebrate.

transition zone

Transition areas are key checkpoints in which the teams switch from one discipline to another, for example from kayaking to biking. You will be in charge of organizing equipment as teams pass through the transition area. We also need timekeepers at these checkpoints as we time each stage of the race!

race central

Be a part of the many tasks at Race Central! Duties may include timekeeping, handing out medals & collecting passports from all the racers, setup/teardown, etc.
